History & Organization


SADOCHOK was incorporated in 1976 as non-profit organization under the name of SADOCHOK CENTRE INC. and operating as SADOCHOK PRESCHOOL CENTRE, is licensed by the Ministry of Education and abides by the regulations of the CCEYA (Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014).
It is also registered as a charitable body and donations to the preschool are tax deductible.

Our facilities are in compliance with all regulatory agencies, including: Ministry of Education, Toronto Public Health, and Toronto Fire Department.In addition, our property has an on-site fully licensed and inspected playground.

Our Goals and Objectives
SADOCHOK provides as open learning environment for young children under the guidance and gentle loving care of our Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE).

• Provide a multidimensional program stressing Ukrainian linguistic and cultural growth, as well as, social, emotional and academic development.

• Emphasize the acquisition of basic skills such as reading, writing, oral expression, arithmetic, science and the arts.

• Stimulate and encourage creative thinking and participation in a pressure-free environment.

• Foster the children’s exploration, play and inquiry as a key goal

• Promote health & well-being

• Capture and document our practice to reinforce learning

• Support all children’s ability to self-regulate, so children feel comfortable and confident

• Foster the children’s health and well-being indoors and outdoors

• Form trusting relationships with children and their families

• Provide everyone with a sense of belonging

• Children learn to:
o care about other people;
o understand others’ feelings;
o cooperate and share;
o express their opinions;
o resolve conflicts;
o develop self-competence, self-worth and self-regulation

SADOCHOK operates from 7:30am – 6:00pm Mondays through Fridays providing quality child care and a wide range of learning and recreational activities in the Ukrainian language.

A hot, nutritious meal is prepared and served at mid-day and both a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack are provided as per the Canada Food Guide.

The day-to-day operation of SADOCHOK is managed by the Supervisor and the Office Administrator under the direction of the Board of Directors

Policies and administration of the preschool are undertaken by a volunteer Board of Directors comprising of at least three members (one of which is the Director) elected by the members of corporation. Any interested party, former parents of SADOCHOK pupils, educators, etc., who wish to participate may also apply.

Active parent commitment and involvement is encouraged and important for the sustainability of our organization, including volunteering to join the board of directors, the parent’s committee and helping with fundraising initiatives, including helping run monthly BINGO sessions.
